A woman was arrested and 174 cough syrup bottles seized from her possession from Keshtrigao Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district on Friday, district police said.
The arrested person was identified as one Yumkhaibam Sherabhanu, 60, daughter of late Md Jouruddin of Kshetrigao Mayai Leikai, Imphal East, the police said.
The police said a team conducted random frisking and checking the suspected passersby at Keshtrigao Mayai Leikai. During the police activity, Sherabhanu was detained and during examination, 174 cough syrup bottles concealed in a box wrap with a white cloth was detected, they said.
The police said the cough syrup bottles were seized and Sherabhanu was arrested on the spot. Later, the arrested person and the seized items were handed over to Porompat police station for further action.
