A release signed by WMC secretary general Yambem Arun Meetei, alleged CM Biren of being ignorant of the deplorable situation of the victims of the conflict and “making such baseless claims.”

It further expressed discontentment over the CM for allegedly sidelining the recent unprovoked attacks by suspected Kuki Militants and focusing his attention on thanking the Centre for solving NRC, ILP, FMR and border fencing issues.

There is no mention of his comment on ST status in the said paper, it noted, and accused Biren of only holding onto CM’s post and disregarding the public’s demand. It also demanded to send the two reports without further delay so as to ensure constitutional protection of the Meeteis.

It further added that a flash protest led by president WMC Manipur Unit Urikkhimbam Kunjo, Joint Secretary WMC Manipur Unit Elangbam Brojenkumar and member Elangabam Ratan Singh was held at Tejpur Mayai Leikai in Kakching district, with participation from Tejpur Apunba Meira Paibi and members of Tejpur Clubs.
