Will not take bodies, book culprits within 24 hours: JAC

A joint action committee was formed at a public meeting on Friday in connection with the recent killing of four villagers by suspected Kuki militants, and took several resolutions including not to accept bodies until the culprits are booked within 24 hours.

The four villagers, including a father and son, were killed in cold blood by suspected Kuki militants at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou Maning, Bishnupur district around 2.30 pm on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as one Oinam Bamonjao, 60, his son Oinam Manitomba, 32, Thiyam Somendro, 53 son of (L) Th Manibabu and Ningthoujam Nabadip, 41, all from Ningthoukhong kha Khunou Ward No. 4.

The resolutions were taken after the public meeting formed a joint action committee called ‘JAC against the brutal killing of 4 civilians at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou by Kuki-Zo Narco Terrorists’ in connection with the incident.

Mounting pressure upon the state government to remove the central forces deployed at the western side along the foothills within 24 hours were among the resolutions.

The meeting resolved not to accept the bodies if the government fails to fulfil the demand, and also resolved that the incident occurred under the control area of the central force deployed in the area. The regiment must apprehend the Kuki Zo Narco Terrorist involved while killing the four villagers within 24 hours in order to book them under law, the meeting resolved.

The meeting also resolved to lodge an FIR against the said Sikh regiment at the police station concerned. The JAC will also mount pressure upon the state government and authority concerned to implement NRC in Manipur at the earliest.
