A wildfire broke out at the foothills of Cheiraoching from the eastern side during “Athoubasingi Numit” on Thursday at around 12:45 pm.
The fire broke out while people were paying floral tributes at the Martyr's Memorial Complex at Chingmeirong Cheiraoching.
As per sources, the fire was put out in time by a small water carrier which has a pump set, which happened to come to the spot when the fire broke out. A fire tender of the fire service also came to the spot to help in dousing the fire.
The Indian Red Cross Society Imphal West also helped in taming the fire, the sources said.
