Protesters calling for indefinite bandh along NH-2 at Sekmai have questioned the government why it did not register an FIR against Kuki protesters in any criminal act if it can register against the Meiteis.

The indefinite bandh along the Imphal-Dimapur Road on NH-2 was imposed demanding immediate release of 19 persons arrested from Awang Sekmai in connection with the burning of three LPG trucks at Nongthonband, Sekmai, Imphal West.

One of the protesters told the media that the three trucks coming to load cooking gas cylinders at Sekmai Bottling Plant were intercepted by some protesters and burned in Nongthonband, Sekmai area.

Following the incident, combined security forces arrested 19 locals of the area under the charge of burning down the three trucks on Saturday, she added.

She said if the government is going to arrest any culprits involved in a crime in connection with the present crisis, then why is it not able to take any FIR against Kuki protesters.
