Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata on Sunday alleged that no action has been taken up with transparency in efforts to resolve the crisis which has crossed more than eight months in the state, while questioning who is really the unified command.

Sujata asked, “Why are the MLAs including Chief Minister N Biren Singh himself unable to put their stance before the Central government? Why are they so scared?”

“We have heard that the MLAs and ministers will resign from their posts. If they wanted to resign, then they could have submitted their resignation letters,” she added.

She recalled that the representatives of Imagi Meira had a meeting with security advisor Kuldiep Singh on January 11.

She said that during the meeting, Kuldiep admitted that the four villagers were killed at Kumbi Haotak due to some security lapses.

He also told the representatives of Imagi Meira that the chief minister takes the chair in every security meeting.

During the first security meeting conducted on July 3, 2023, Chief Minister N Biren Singh took the chair of the meeting, said Sujata.

In another meeting with the governor, the representatives of the women’s group demanded to deploy additional security forces in Moreh as the armed Kuki militants are attacking the state forces openly, she said.

The Governor told them that she will be going to attend a meeting with the President of India at Meghalaya on January 19. She assured them that she will highlight the report of the present situation of Manipur to the President and union home minister, Sujata said.

“The government has the capacity to guard the vulnerable peripheral areas and there is no need for village volunteers to guard their villages. If the central forces are not going to protect the people of Manipur, then the Central government must withdraw all the security forces deployed to control the crisis,” she added.
