The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president K Meghachandra questioned the state government over the unrest and prevailing tension in Manipur. It asked whether communal clash took place due to lack of pre-intelligence of the government.

Meghachandra was speaking at its state party office located at BT Road, Imphal on Monday. He said thousands of houses were burnt down and many lives were lost in the communal clash continuing in the state since May 3.

The MPCC president said the government has not started taking any steps on the resolution taken at all political meeting held recently at CM Secretariat, Imphal.

Recalling that the all-political party meeting resolved for immediate evacuation of stranded people, Meghachandra asked why is the government not able to evacuate all the stranded people from relief camps.

He also asked what is the position of Article 355 as in some media, including national media, it is reported that Article 355 has been implemented, but security advisor to Manipur government Kuldeep Singh told mediapersons that Article 355 is not enforced in the state.

Meghachandra said people are confused and the government should clear the confusion.
