Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei on Monday distributed various welfare schemes for elderly persons and widows schemes at his Grace Home, Utopia Tamenglong Ward No I.

As many as 100 beneficiaries were selected, of which 59 widows and 50 elderly people were provided benefits under Manipur Old Age Pension (MOAP) scheme and Chief Minister Widows pension scheme.

On the occasion, Janghemlung Panmei said the government is looking after the elderly persons and widows and there are many schemes available for them. He explained that old age pension schemes can be availed when one attains the age of 60. Pension schemes are just to honor and show respect to the elders, he added.
