Water conservation awareness drive held in Churachandpur

The event was organised to foster rain water harvesting for availability of potable drinking water among the people residing in dry remote areas.

The Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles under the Aegis of HQ IGAR (East) and in pursuance of ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’ on Monday conducted an awareness drive on water conservation for Hengkot village and the adjoining villages.

The event was organised to foster rain water harvesting for availability of potable drinking water among the people residing in dry remote areas.

During the programme, a brief lecture was conducted by the organisers emphasising on the importance of water conservation, including rain water harvesting, plantation of trees to increase the ground water table in the general area and how to filter and store rainwater for usage during dry season in the area.

The event witnessed strength of approximately 100 villagers from different remote villages under Henglep sub-division of Churachandpur including village chiefs.
