Members of CPI Wangjing-Tentha local council resigned in large numbers in protest against the alliance of CPI Manipur state council and Congress party for the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election.
In a press meet held at the residence of former CPI candidate of Wangjing-Tentha assembly constituency and state executive member Haobam Robindro at Wangjing Wangkhei, he said that 48 members of CPI Wangjing-Tentha local council have submitted their resignation letter to the CPI Manipur state council via the local secretary, protesting the alliance of CPI Manipur state council and the Congress party.
Speaking on the occasion, Haobam Robindro accused the Congress party of taking advantage of the CPI, and condemned the CPI Manipur state council for forming the alliance despite the protest by most of the councillors of CPI.
Accusing that the CPI Manipur state council giving instructions to vote for NPP candidates in few assembly constitutions, he said that the council is preparing to vote for corrupted candidates of Congress party. Condemning the ‘non-democratic’ formation of alliance, he alleged the CPI Manipur state council of deceiving the supporters of communism and other political parties.
Former CPI Wangjing-Tentha secretary and CPI Manipur state council member Th Hemobi condemned the alliance and questioned why there is no common candidate for CPI in the alliance despite getting a good deal of voters in the previous election.
The event was attended by CPI Wangjing Tentha local leaders and members including, Th Brjamohon and L Brajamani from Kairembikhok.
