VVF delivers a Kuki in safe hands

Village Volunteer Force (VVF) on Wednesday handed over a man from the Kuki community in possession of drugs to Meira Paibis of Kakching district unharmed.

Village Volunteer Force (VVF) on Wednesday handed over a man from the Kuki community in possession of drugs to Meira Paibis of Kakching district unharmed.

Upon receiving information that a Kuki has been apprehended by some unknown armed miscreants on Wednesday at around 1.30 pm, Imphal West district police launched a mass search for the man and even notified the nearby district police control offices to be on alert.

However, amid the search VVF members handed over the person to Meira Paibis at Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar under the jurisdiction of Hiyanglam Police Station, Kakching district along with 24 grams of brown sugar brought in two soap cases at around 9.10 pm on Wednesday.

The person is Jangkholal Khongsai, 34, son of (L) Thangkhai Khongsai of Kangpokpi District under the jurisdiction of New Keithelmanbi Police Station.

A team of Kakching District Police Addl SP (Ops) and Addl SP (L/O) rushed to Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar upon hearing the news. Meira Paibis urged them for an exchange with the kidnapped Meiteis by the Kukis. 

Kakching district police took Jangkholal along with the 24 grams brown sugar to Pallel Police station and has been kept at Pallel Assam Rifles Camp after requisition.
