Manipur Governor La Ganesan, who is also Governor of West bengal on Saturday extended greetings to the people of Manipur and West Bengal on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, which falls on September 17 this time.
"My solemn greetings to the people of Manipur and West Bengal on this auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Puja. The nation is thriving towards prosperity by the workers of corporate factories and individual ones. My highest respect to them," the Governor tweeted on Saturday.
Vishwakarma Puja is observed to celebrate the birth of Lord Vishwakarma on Kanya Sankranti day (a day when the Sun migrates to the Kanya Rashi/Virgo), which falls on September 17 this calendar year.
Vishwakarma Puja is one of the major religious festivals celebrated by the Hindu population in Manipur. The day is also celebrated in other parts of the country and in Nepal.
