Vested interest alleged in temple committee

Former commissioner of Manipur Tourism department KK Chhetri on Friday attention of concerned society registrar to take necessary action as some people claimed to be a self-style management committee of “Shree Vishnu Durga Au Shiva Teen Panchayan Mandir”, Kanglatongbi, Imphal West has been carrying activities for their vested interest.

Chhetri told media at Mantripukhri on Friday that “Shree Vishnu Durga Au Shiva Teen Panchayan Mandir”, Kanglatongbi, Imphal West was registered in 2015 under Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989.

He said the management committee of the temple should be appointed for tenure of five years among the 44 committee members and that under the regulation number 19(h) and regulation number 29 of the Act, an annual general body meeting should be called in order to audit the financial expenses and to appoint a new officer bearer.

Instead of following all the rules and regulations and apart from the 44 committee members, one Rabi Uperathy and Santosh Dabadi claimed themselves as president and secretary respectively of the committee, he added.

He alleged that they do not even allow people to enter the temple if those people are against them and further alleged that they tried to capture the surrounding lands of the temple, seized the financial records of the temple and have been carrying illegal activities against the rules and regulation and against law.

The self-styled committee members also threatened those who raise voice against them and due to that, people of Kanglatongbi have been living in fear and creating enmity among each other, said Chhetri.

Rabi and Santosh are also not included in the list of 44 committee members, he stated and added that people of Kanglatongbi want to know how the two persons have the management power.
He appealed to the authorities concerned to monitor the issue seriously and to find out the facts.
