Vehicle Theft: One arrested, elder brother at large

Dawood was detained in front of Manipur Police, Headquarter, Imphal at around 2.10 pm under the suspicion of stealing one KTM motorcycle on March 22 from Khuman Lampak.

A person involved in a recent case of vehicle theft that took place near Khuman Lampak Main Stadium has been arrested by a team of district commando, Imphal West on Monday. 

The arrested person has been identified as one Md Dawood Khan, 21, son of Alhaj Mahamood Khan from Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, Imphal West district.

According to the police report, Dawood was detained in front of Manipur Police, Headquarter, Imphal at around 2.10 pm under the suspicion of stealing one KTM motorcycle on March 22 from Khuman Lampak.

On questioning, he disclosed that he was involved in stealing one KTM motorcycle (Dark Galvano Matt Colour) without registration number in front of the Main Stadium near football ground, Khuman Lampak on March 22.

The theft was carried out during the match of Tri-Nation International Football Tournament, 2023, he said. He also disclosed that he had committed the aforementioned crime along with his elder brother Md Mujib Khan, 27, who is presently absconding in connection with vehicle theft case ref. FIR No.93(3) 2023 IPS.

One mobile handset, one wallet containing one aadhaar card, one driving license, one voter ID card, one vehicle registration card, a sum of Rs 20, one Maruti Swift car bearing registration number WB02AG 3031 were seized from his possession.

Dawood was arrested on the spot and handed over to officer-in-charge, Imphal Police Station along with the seizures for further necessary legal action.
