The All Jiribam VDF Welfare Association on Thursday donated a sum of Rs 10,000 to the family members of Yurembam Kangleicha Meitei (VDF No 10J0055) who held a post at Jiribam Reserved Line.

The sum was handed over in the presence of DSP (Reserve Line), Konjengbam Gitchandra Singh. The members of the association had collected the amount from the meagre remunerations that they received with the aim of aiding the bereaved family.

The total number of VDF personnel in the state at present numbers around 10,050. And it is rather an unfortunate fact that the state government has not arranged any policy programme for the personnel although the force was established more than 12 years ago.

For years, VDF personnel have been taking active roles by joining hands with the police department in maintaining law and order in the state. They have dedicated their lives to service but still the state government is paying VDF personnel with out of date remunerations.

"Please maintain a service security for VDF, change the old rules and regulations for the development of the 10,050 VDP personnel in Manipur,” the association requested.
