VDF association extends financial aid to deceased personnel's family

Thoubal district VDF Welfare Association on Thursday extended financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the family of late Kshetrimayum Jiten, a VDF personnel from Kakching Ningthou leikai.

During his service period, Jiten was posted at Wangbal Congress Office and he died due to an illness on November 30.

Laishram Nabadip, publicity secretary of the association, said the donated amount was deducted from the district VDF welfare fund. 

The association members along with H Debendra, store OC, DHQ, Thoubal and Ph Hemba, cashier,  under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam, IPS, SP Thoubal on Thursday paid a visit at the residence of late VDF personnel and handed over the cash to Ksh (ongbi) Anjana, wife of the late VDF.

The team also condoled Jiten's family. He is survived by two children.

The association under the supervision of the SP concerned has been extending cash amount of Rs 2 lakh each from district VDF welfare fund whenever a member died for years, the publicity secretary maintained, adding it is unfortunate that the government did not spare a moment to consider the demands of the VDF personnel for increasing their honararium. 

He drew the authorities concerned of the present state government to increase the honararium of  VDF personnel at the earliest so that they could support their families in such a time when the prices of goods have skyrocketed.
