Thanga MLA and MSPDCL chairman Tongbram Robindro on Saturday appealed to the public to use electricity judiciously and efficiently.
Robindro was delivering the chief guest speech during the grand finale celebration of Bijili Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas of Bishnupur district at Kyamba Ningshing Shanglen as a part of the Ujjwal Bharat-Ujjwal Bhavishya celebration under the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Power@2047.”
The advancement and achievements in the power sector throughout the country, including Manipur, has been a great expounder in moving towards development in all disciplines, the chairman said.
Recalling the early days where people used to face hardship due to lack of electricity, he said that those dark days are now gone with the service of the BJP-led government.
Further recalling the connection of electricity to Leishang village of Senapati on April 29, 2018 and declaring it as the last village to be electrified, Robindro said, “It is the clear example of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas.”
Beneficiaries of various electrification schemes shared their testimonials during the interactive session and short films on some of the key achievements in the power sector were also screened during the celebration.
The function was also attended by caretaker chairperson of Bishnupur Municipal Council L Maniyaima and Bishnupur DC Lourembam Bikram among others.
