UNLF condoles Ngangom Binod’s demise

Binod joined UNLF in 1968 and shouldered various responsibilities including the advisory committee of UNLF.

The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and its ‘army wing’ Manipur People’s Army (MPA) on Thursday extended condolences on the demise of former UNLF member Ngangom Binod.

A release issued by the deputy secretary publicity of UNLF M Sak-hen stated that Ngangom Binod who succumbed to his illness on Monday morning was born on January 16 in Haobam Marak.

Late Binod joined UNLF in 1968 and shouldered various responsibilities including the advisory committee of UNLF, it recalled. He was also imprisoned in 1969 during the government’s effort to control the revolutionary movements in the state, the release continued.

As a firm believer of the “food independence” ideology of UNLF, Binod was also an avid enthusiast of agriculture development, it mentioned.

Till his last breath, Ngangom Binod was a firm believer of the ideologies of UNLF such as fostering brotherhood between the diverse communities of Manipur, reclaiming the lost freedom of Manipur and creating an equalitarian society.

The UNLF and MPA share the sorrow of the bereaved family, friends and well-wishers and also extended prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
