Union Minister Nityanand Rai visits Assam Rifles bases along India-Myanmar border

The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs was briefed in detail by the various commanders on ground about the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness, it stated. He also reviewed the ongoing fencing work at the Indo-Myanmar Border, a release stated.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai visited the field formations and forward company operating bases of Assam Rifles along India-Myanmar border at Moreh and Permanent Vehicle Check Post at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal district in Manipur on Monday and Tuesday, stated a release issued by IGAR (South).

During the visit, he was briefed in detail by the various commanders on ground about the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness, it stated. He also reviewed the ongoing fencing work at the Indo-Myanmar Border, it mentioned. 

He further expressed his satisfaction on the security measures and operational preparedness of the Assam Rifles, it stated. He said that the Assam Rifles has contributed significantly to the maintenance of peace and harmony in the insurgency affected areas of the Northeast and has performed exemplary work in preventing cross border smuggling and drug trafficking, it further stated.

He further interacted with the Assam Rifles troops deployed along Indo-Myanmar border, it mentioned. He also said that all ranks of Assam Rifles have to face many difficulties for the security of the country, therefore their welfare is paramount for the government, it added.
