In a development for sports in Manipur, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday announced his commitment to improving sports infrastructure in Imphal. This initiative will be implemented under the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
Rijiju shared the news on his X handle, accompanied by photos from a recent meeting with Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
During their discussions, CM Biren highlighted the urgent need for a "world-class football stadium" and other major development projects in the state.
He was joined by Youth Affairs Minister Govindas Konthoujam and other officials, all of whom emphasised the importance of modernizing sports facilities to foster local talent.
Rijiju also acknowledged the ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure in Manipur’s hills, praising CM Biren for his proactive approach in utilising ministry schemes to benefit the region.
"Honble CM Shri @NBirenSingh ji has built many valuable infrastructures in the Hills of Manipur through the Schemes of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Now, he has requested for building Sports Infrastructure at Imphal. We will do it.," Rijiju stated in his X post.
In response, CM Biren through his X handle, expressed his gratitude to Rijiju for considering the state's requests to enhance sports infrastructure.
