The all-party meeting has been called in the wake of several MLAs of the state making a visit to the national capital to submit memorandums and raise their demands over the prevailing unrest issue.

Over 30 leaders of 10 different Manipur political parties are camped in New Delhi to meet the prime minister. The parties included the Congress, CPI, CPI (M), Trinamool Congress, Forward Bloc, Shiva Sena, RSP, AAP and the NCP.

During his visit to the state in May, the Union home minister held several meetings with representatives of both the Meitei and Kuki communities in an effort to address the crisis situation. He also visited the worst hit districts Churachandpur, Moreh and Kangpokpi. He also said he would visit the state again sometime in June.

The violence in Manipur that started in Churachandpur on May 3 has claimed over 100 lives and rendered over 50,000 people displaced from their homes that have been burned and destroyed. The prolonged crisis has deepened as violence continued in several parts of the state, particularly in village situated along the foothills surrounding the valley area.
