‘UKLF supported BJP in recent election as per assurance given'

The BJP government has assured to fulfil the political demands of UKLF and therefore, UKLF supported the BJP party in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, chairman of UKLF SS Haokip said.

Chairman of UKLF, SS Haokip on Tuesday said that the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recent 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election as per the assurance given by BJP to fulfil the former’s political demand.

He was speaking at the 27th raising day observation of UKLF (SoO underground outfit) at the ‘Designated Nazareth Vamp Muvanphoi’, Chandel district on Tuesday.

During the occasion, home secretary, UKLF Khupmang; vice chairman, UKLF Kt Misao; chairman of the 27th raising day committee Kenedy and some village chiefs of the area took part.

SS Haokip hoisted the organisational flag followed by a performance of the outfit's anthem.

On the occasion, SS Haokip extended his appreciation towards the people of Manipur for supporting them. He said there is no policy of biasness among the communities, communal hatred as the entire communities of Manipur should cooperate with each other in order to bring peace.

“No invitation was given to UKLF for political talk during the tenure of Congress government,” he said.  However, with the coming of the BJP government, it has assured to fulfil the political demands of UKLF and therefore, UKLF supported the BJP party in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, he added.  

Besides, the Congress party has tried to defame UKLF for supporting the BJP. However, UKLF may change its stand if BJP fails to fulfil its assurance, he added.

UKLF commemorated the late UKLF members and honoured their families with the coming of 27th raising day, he added.
