In a relief for the people in Ukhrul town, district police conducted road improvement work in the district headquarters on Thursday.
The town road improvement work was carried out under the leadership of superintendent of police Ningshem Vashum in an effort to make Ukhrul headquarters an environment conscious district, a release stated.
The town road has been widened in the effort to ease the heavy traffic congestion, the release stated. It stated that the Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long lauded the initiative of the district police towards a clean and eco-friendly district.
“Civic sense is all that we need, and the guardians of Tangkhul customary law take this matter seriously. Clean environment has to come from all the stakeholders which include every living soul,” it added.
Throwing garbage, spitting openly in the downtown has to come to an end and all must play their parts to make this happen in this community, it stated.
