Nomination filing for Phungyar (ST) assembly constituency under Kamjong district began on Monday with BJP candidate Awung Shimray Hopingson filing the first nomination paper.
A release issued by district information officer stated that the returning officer for Phungyar and Chingai assembly constituencies Chunglenmang Kipgen, ADM Ukhrul district headquarters has received the first nomination papers from Awung Shimray Hopingson at 1pm.
It further stated that Ukhrul and Kamjong districts have three assembly constituencies namely Phungyar (ST) assembly constituency, Ukhrul (ST) assembly constituency and Chingai (ST) assembly constituency.
Nomination papers will be received till 3 pm of February 11 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on February 14. Last date of withdrawal of candidature will be on February 16 2022, it added.
The district election officer of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts estimated to deploy 1,533 polling officers for the 219 polling stations, it mentioned.
