A column of 37 Assam Rifles from COB Kakching and a team of Commando Unit Kakching apprehended one cadre of the proscribed KCP outfit at Sekmaijin Heibong Makhong in Kakching district on Monday.
Acting on information about the presence of some members of the said outfit loitering in and around Sekmaijin Heibong Makhong in Kakching district, a column of 37 AR from COB Kakching and a team of CDO Unit Kakching led by havildar N Chaoba Singh under the command of OC/CDO Unit Sub. S Birla Singh launched an operation to the said area and conducted frisking and checking at Sekmaijin Heibong Makhong, as per sources.
During the course of frisking and checking, one unknown person was detained for verification. On verification, he identified himself as one Angom Ibochouba Singh alias Lalchaba, 43, son of Angom Ibomcha Singh from Moirang Khoiru Leikai, it stated.
On further questioning, he disclosed that he joined the KCP in 2009 and he was trained for three-month basic military training under 1st batch in 2009 and got Army No. 1008 at Ukhrul Upper Leishal Hill, Manipur and holding the rank of major at KCP.
He also stated that he worked under the command of one Lamyanba Khuman who is presently holding the rank of a self-styled chairman and has been appointed as district commander of Bishnupur and Churachandpur. He admitted that he has been actively involved in extortion of money from the general public.
From the above facts and circumstances, he was apprehended from Sekmaijin Heibong Makhong at around 5.30 pm by observing formalities, it mentioned.
The arrested person along with an arrest memo was handed over to Hiyanglam Police Station for taking further necessary legal actions, it added.
