TYA slams atrocities of Saikul PS, hands over five girls to parents

The Thadou Youth Association (TYA) Kangpokpi district has warned that if any untoward incident arises in the future, the Saikul police will be held solely responsible.

Strongly condemning the alleged atrocities committed by personnel of Saikul Police Station on innocent villagers of Saikul area, especially Molkon, Naphai and its adjoining area, the Thadou Youth Association (TYA) Kangpokpi district has warned that if any untoward incident arises in the future, the Saikul police will be held solely responsible.

TYA Kangpokpi district president Henminlen Hangshing said that there has been incidence of the atrocities committed by Saikul police against innocent villagers of the Saikul region in Kangpokpi district in connection with the demolition of Kuki Rebellion 1917-1919 Memorial Stone at C Aisan on October 17.

He recalled that in the aftermath of the demolition of Kuki Rising or Anglo-Kuki War Monolith, villagers of Saikul area who had been implicated with the wreckage of the stone, had to scatter with great sorrow inside deep jungle at night when the police inhumanly assailed some of the villages. Some of the anguished girls, who were accountable for the annihilation of the memorial stone, had to post a video of their grieving hours on social media platforms to draw people’s attention, he added.

Meanwhile, Thadou Students' Association (TSA) Kangpokpi district called upon the family members of the girls at Kangpokpi DHQs on Friday and handed over the girls to their respective family representatives in the presence of KYU and KWWO after inking a memorandum of understanding and agreement.

Thangkhochon, who represented the family members conveyed gratitude to the TYA for its humanity services upon the children and sought God's blessing upon the TYA in its future endeavours.
