Two killed in road accidents

An elderly pedestrian was killed in a road mishap near Koinonia Training School, which is located 1 km south west of Chandel Police Station on Wednesday.

Two people were killed in two separate incidents of road mishap in Manipur, sources said on Thursday. 

An elderly pedestrian was killed in a road mishap involving a Jawa motorcycle near Koinonia Training School, which is located 1 km south west of Chandel Police Station, at around 1.30 pm on Wednesday, the sources said.

The victim has been identified as LH Rimonsing Anal, 59, from Chandel. According to sources, he was walking along the roadside when he was hit by the two-wheeler vehicle without registration number. The rider of the motorcycle has been identified as Sungnen Calvin Lamkang, 21, son of Angtoi Lamkang from Angkhel Chayang village.

Chandel police had filed a case in regard to the incident. After a post mortem was conducted at JNIMS, the body had been received by the bereaved family.

In another inicdent, a 51-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after being hit by a Royal Enfield motorcycle without registration number at DM College road near Domino Pizza, Thangmeiband, Imphal West under the Imphal Police Station.

The incident occurred on June 12 when Luxmi Remei, 51, wife of Angam Dangmei from Sangakpham Kairang Lamkhai was hit by the said motorcycle at DM College road. After the incident, she was rushed to Raj Medicity where she underwent treatment.  She succumbed to her injuries at 9 pm on Thursday.

The Imphal Police Station filed a case regarding the incident. After a post mortem was conducted at RIMS mortuary, the body was handed over to the family.
