Two people, including a militant, have been arrested in separate incidents by a team of Andro Police station Imphal East, police sources said on Sunday.
The Andro Police team led by Officer in Charge Inspector Md Riayajuddin shah on Saturday arrested a PLA cadre of rebel outfit PLA for his involvement in killing of a non-Manipuri at Uchol Chingjin, Andro Huikap, Imphal East on July 8.
The team also arrested one individual in connection with keeping hand grenade near the temporary work shed (khola) of non local workers at Andro Sanathei park.
As per police, at around 7 pm Saturday, following a tip-off, the Andro PS team under the supervision of SP Imphal East M Pradip arrested one PLA cadre from Andro Khuman leikai. The arrested cadre was identified as Hijam Sanatomba Singh, 25, son of Hijam Pollo Singh, a resident of Andro khuman Leikai, police said.
The PLA cadre was arrested in connection with follow-up action of case FIR No 26 (7) 2022 APS u/s 302/34 IPC, 25(1-C) Arms Act and 16/20 UA(P) A, the police said.
The arrested person was involved in the transportation of gun which was used for killing of one non Manipuri at Uchol chingjin along Ngarian Andro road which was occurred on July 8 last of the said case, the sources added.
The arrested accused person has completed basic training in Myanmar in 2016 under Army number 3285, the source mentioned.
Further, on the same day at around 7:15 pm, the second team of Andro PS led by the OC himself under the supervision of SP Imphal East arrested one individual namely Hijam Itomba, 32, son of Surochandra of Andro Leitanpekpham, Imphal East district.
The source said that he was arrested in connection with a case FIR Number 23(06)2022APS U/S 506/307/34 IPC & 5 Explosive Substances Act. He was involved in keeping one hand granade near the temporary work shed (khola) of non local workers at Andro Sanathei park in the intervening night of June 2 and 3 last, the source added.
Necessary legal action against the accused persons have been taken up, police source said.
