Two active cadres of Myanmar-based militants arrested in Manipur

Two vehicles, one pistol, some live rounds of ammunition and Myanmar currencies were seized from the arrested militants.

Two active cadres of the Myanmar-based underground outfit, ‘People Defence Force’ (PDF), were arrested in Manipur on Sunday. Two vehicles, one pistol, some live rounds of ammunition and Myanmar currencies were seized from the arrested militants, police said.

The police said that a combined team of special CDO/MRH, under the supervision of Th Krishnatombi Singh, MPS, Superintendent of Police, Railway and in-charge Special Commando Unit, Khabeisoi, conducted frisking and checking at the India-Myanmar border near Jangnoi village. They were arrested while frisking and checking at the Border Pillar Number 79 near Kwatha Khunou in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district.

Police informed that while conducting frisking and checking, one Kenbo Bike with three occupants was seen coming from border pillar 79 side towards BP-80. And when the combined CDO team called on them for checking, they sped up and tried to flee. Then, the combined CDO team chased and overpowered the two-pillion rider while the Kenbo rider managed to escape taking the advantage of the thick jungle.

They are identified as Neipaing (38), son of Utaschai of Tamu Thauyuwate, and Yeyint Aung (35), son of Uphapha of Tamu, both in Myanmar and they are active members of PDF, Myanmar-based underground organisation.

They are presently working under the command of Usonai of PDF who had assigned them at H Mongyang village along with their colleague to perform a task, including information collection of the movements of security forces.

From Neipaing, police recovered one live round of 9mm ammunition, two live rounds of AK-47 ammunition, one mobile phone (MI Note-3 blue in colour), one small hand bag (Black in colour) along with 100-Kyat (Hundred note of Myanmar currency) inside the bag he was carrying and from Yeyint Aung, police recovered one mobile phone, one small hand bag (Black), one Kenbo Bike without regd. No, and 10,000 Kyat notes (Myanmar currency).
