The All Manipur VDF Welfare Association appealed to the state government to turn their charter of demands which has been approved by the state cabinet headed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh into action before implementing the election code of conduct.
The charter of demands include raise in their honorarium to 75 per cent of the pay of Manipur police constable, to compensate 13th month pay and to regularise their job, among others.
The charter of demand was a long pending demand made for the welfare of the families of the VDF personnel, said president of the association Md Riyas Khan while speaking to the media on Saturday at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
He informed that the charter of demands was approved by the cabinet two months ago, however it has not been implemented yet.
The copy of the written approval of the charter of demands has been forwarded to the DGP and other authority concerned to turn into action, delay tactics are played in the name of departmental process, he alleged.
"There has been a doubt on whether the government is waiting for the announcement of a code of conduct to suppress their demands," said the president.
In this regard, representation had been submitted to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah by a central committee team of the association as well as the four Manipur MPs, he said lauding the MPs for their initiative for the VDF personnel.
He further said that the chief minister had even given his assurance of implementing their charter of demands into action but till date no positive action has been taken.
Considering the grievances of all the 10,050 VDF personnel and their family members, he drew the attention of the chief minister to look into their demands.
