Tributes to martyrs mark Patriots Day 2021 observation across Manipur

The administrations of all districts of Manipur observed the Patriots Day 2021 at their respective headquarters.

The Patriots Day observations was held at Kangla Utra, Shaheed Minar, Bir Tikendrajit Park, Hicham Yaichampat, Moirangkhom and Palace Compound in Imphal and at several district headquarters across the state on Friday.

The district administration Chandel commemorated Patriots’ Day at district headquarters, DC complex . Floral tributes were paid by deputy commissioner, Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar, superintendent of Police, Chandel, L Deven Singh, CO 8MR Somendro Singh and other officials of the district. Due to the ongoing pandemic the function was organised in a simple and smaller scale.

Under the strict norms of SOP of Covid-19 pandemic, the district administration, Thoubal, observed the Patriots’ Day at the Conference hall of DC Office, Thoubal. Deputy commissioner of the district, Rangnamei Rang Peter and the district level officials paid floral tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of the motherland. 

As a part of the Patriots’ Day observance, the district administration, Thoubal also organised an activity related to the theme ‘Catch the Rain’ under Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav inside the DC office complex by cleaning the ponds and water bodies.

The district administration, Senapati celebrated the Patriots’ Day today at DRDA Conference Hall remembering the immense sacrifices of Bir Tikendrajit and General Thangal who had fought against British colonial rule. Deputy commissioner, Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari, stated that the heroic act of Bir Tikendrajit and General Thangal should not be forgotten easily.

In remembering their bravery against colonial rule, road names and parks have been set up, he added. He said that everyone must also take the pledge in life continuing the ideals and sacrifices made by their forefather. Besides, he also congratulated the district administration teams who will be getting Chief Minister’s Award for Good Governance on the Independence Day on August 15 for their parallel heroic act of executing the work. He also appealed to the members present to continue in doing good work and make Senapati a great performing district. DC, Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari also led the lighting of candles and paying floral tributes to the martyr and followed by the DLO’s present. The programme was attended by sub divisional officers, district level officers and various Civil bodies maintaining COVID- 19 SOPs.

District Administration, Bishnupur observed Patriots’ Day at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur . The function was attended by deputy commissioner, Bishnupur, Krishna Kumar, superintendent of Police, Bishnupur, Hopson Sapam, ADM Bishnupur, H Bobby Sharma and other officials of the district by maintaining COVID appropriate behaviors.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Krishna Kumar recalled the supreme sacrifices made by Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General and urged all to affirm in following their noble footsteps for the welfare and honour of all the people in the State and country. Highlighting the importance of youth in nation building, he appealed to the DLOs of the district to involve youths in any upcoming developmental programmes.

Floral tributes were offered at the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General for the supreme sacrifices.

The occasion was also observed at the international border town Moreh. Meeei Council Moreh, All community Development Organisation Moreh, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup moreh, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup, Moreh and AMSU Tengnoupal District Committee Moreh jointly organised the observation at Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung. A two-minute silence was also observed while floral tributes were offered to the martyrs.
