Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the occasion of World Tribal Day - World Indigenous Peoples 2022 - called upon the diverse communities of the state to habour inclusive environment. He said tribals of Manipur are an inevitable part of Manipur's history and maintaining harmony among all communities remain top priority of his government.
"On this World Tribal Day, let's us foster to harbour a more inclusive environment for the growth of the most vulnerable sections of the society. The tribals of Manipur are an inevitable part of our history and maintaining harmony among all communities remain our top priority," the chief minister tweeted on Tuesday.
The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is observed on August 9 every year to raise awareness on protecting the rights of the world's indigenous population. This day also celebrates the achievements and contributions of indigenous people to the world.
The theme this year is - "Leaving no one behind: Indigenous peoples and the call for a new social contract".
