Trend of celebrating Yaoshang with games and sports making festival more meaningful: MLA Th Arunkumar

MLA Th Arunkumar on Sunday appreciated the trend of celebrating Yaoshang with games and sports and said that such trends have made the festival more meaningful.

Encouraging locals to maintain the spirit of games and sports, the MLA joined the competitors of the two-day cleanliness and beautification competition “MLA Trophy 2023” at Soibam Leikai, Wangkhei Khunou in Imphal East. The competition was the curtain raiser of the 53rd Annual Sports Festival - 2023 of the Citizens’ Club which will be organised under the norms of the Olympic.

The competition and the sports festival will be participated by a total of four Panas (teams) namely Wangbren, Marjing, Koubroo and Thangjing.

Speaking to the media, the MLA lauded the Citizens' Club for organising the sports festival by ways of introducing events like cleanliness competition and cultural events while apprising the other local clubs to adopt such activities.  

Witnessing the mass participation by members of each and every household in the locality in the cleanliness competition through the four panas, the MLA encouraged the locals to always maintain such unity in every aspect.

Meanwhile, executive member of Citizens’ Club, Chakpram Trajan, donated as many as 50 tracksuits and 200 t-shirts each to the four panas.

In another development at Wangkhei AC on Sunday, the MLA also inaugurated the hanging bridge ‘Ahongei Litan Thong’ which was recently renovated, the verandah of Eastern Educational Club and the newly blacktopped road ‘Khurai Thangjam Leirak Macha’.

In an executive meeting of BJP Wangkhei Mandal held on Saturday at Hotel Classic Grande in Imphal, the MLA had raised various concerns for strengthening the mandal besides implementing more infrastructure development projects in his constituency.

The meeting also witnessed president of BJP, Manipur A Sharda Devi; general secretary of BJP, Manipur K Sarat Kumar; chairman of LDA M Asnikumar and president of BJP Wangkhei Mandal N Ramani among others.
