Training programme on plant protection and on farm bio input held

About 75 farmers attended the one-day training programme, which was organised by Terrain Organic FPC.

A one-day training programme ‘Plant Protection and on Farm Bio Input’ was held at the G Sapermeina CC Hall, Kangpokpi on Tuesday.

About 75 farmers attended the programme, which was organised by Terrain organic FPC, under the aegis of Sarveshwar Food Ltd under Mission Organic Value Chain Development North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER-Phase III).

Dr David Kamei, Subject Matter Specialist, Plant Protection, KVK Senapati and Homen Kangjam, Farm Manager, KVK Senapati, as resource persons, spoke about the important plant protection and farm management techniques for organic growers of turmeric.

Kiwi Project manager, Khaidem Premjit, stated that the training was organised in view of the farmer's need to have better knowledge about the production techniques of turmeric and Kiwi in order to produce on a larger scale organically.

Turmeric has always been a popular crop for food, medicinal purposes and cosmetics and added to this, it is produced organically. So, there is a need to produce them on a larger scale, he added.

Thang Serto, CEO, Terrain FPC and all the staff of Sarveshwar Foods Ltd also took great initiatives in the training program. The one-day training program was supported by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA).
