Training on integrated farming system kicks off

The four-day training programme on integrated farming system (mushroom cultivation, vermicomposting and fish farming) was inaugurated by the Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS), Manipur, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal East.

Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS), Manipur, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal East, inaugurated a four-day training programme on integrated farming system (mushroom cultivation, vermicomposting and fish farming) on Saturday at MGM club community hall.

During the inaugural function of the training programme, dean of College of Agriculture, CAU, Indira Sarangthem, said that integrated farming is a new name in modern society but integrated farming techniques were already utilised by our forefathers.

He also said that though the natural farming system is being practised with natural fertilisers, one will not be able to earn much from it. Hence, integrated farming is imposed to generate more income, he added. However, while practicing integrated farming, one requires a known-suited product in respect to soil fertility, she added.

FOCS vice president BM Yaima said that once Manipur was full of resources and not dependent on other states but now, it is depending on other states and called for people of the state to generate their own source.

The inaugural programme was attended by senior scientist KVK, Imphal East, S Molibala Devi; FOCS president Th Manihar.
