Training on dementia care underway in Thoubal

Dr Kh Shantikumar, M Rajendra and Ng Devkarna attended as resource persons and spoke on several issues pertaining to dementia and how to control them.

A three-day training on dementia care organised by the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) under the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry in collaboration with IRDEO- Regional Resource and Training Centre (AG) NE is underway at the conference hall of IRDEO, Wangbal, Thoubal district.

The training programme started on Tuesday and it will conclude on Thursday.

On the inaugural day (first day), Dr Kh Shantikumar, M Rajendra and Ng Devkarna attended as resource persons and they spoke on several issues pertaining to dementia and how to control them.

On Wednesday, the second day of the training programme, CEO/member secretary cum DNO, DMHP, Chandel Dr Kh Robindro, spoke on the topic ‘Dementia and its Care’; MO,PHC Oinam Dr Pritam Laishram spoke on ‘Common mental health issues of the elderly’; ‘chairman, Royal School of Nursing, Wangbal M Rajendra spoke on ‘cause of dementia and its preventive measures’, while Oinam Ashalata Devi, social activist spoke on the  topic ‘Role of the caretaker’s Dementia for elders’.

On the concluding day, MO District Hospital, Chandel Dr Gilbert Sunpi; medical officer, PHC, Oinam Dr Pritam Laishram; RSN, Wangbal M Rajendra Singh and Dr Kh Shantikumar will be the resource persons.
