Three women, nine other candidates file nomination in Kangpokpi

Sitting BJP MLA of Kangpokpi AC Nemcha Kipgen, was among those who filed the nomination papers to the Returning Officer of 50-Kangpokpi AC.

A day ahead of the last date of nomination, as many as 12 candidates from various political parties and Independent candidates, including three women, from the three assembly constituencies of Kangpokpi district filed their nomination on Monday for the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022.

Earlier, one candidate from 50-Kangpokpi AC, two candidates each from 51-Saitu AC and 46-Saikul had filed their nomination.

Sitting BJP MLA of Kangpokpi AC Nemcha Kipgen, was among those who filed the nomination papers to the Returning Officer of 50-Kangpokpi AC.

The BJP woman candidate along with her workers and supporters marched towards the District Election Officer/DC Kangpokpi on foot from her Kangpokpi residence via National Highway to file her nomination.

After filing her nomination, Nemcha Kipgen said, "I reassure my commitment to always serve my people towards the path of inclusive development irrespective of caste, creed, religion, and community".

She also conveyed her sincere gratitude to the central leaders and state leaders of the BJP for their faith in her and assured that she will not disappoint the party leaders and win the election with a huge margin.

The two other women candidates who filed their nomination papers are Kimneo Haokip of the Kuki Peoples' Alliance and INC's candidate Lhingkim Haokip. Kimneo was denied the BJP ticket and she immediately joined the Kuki Peoples' Alliance.

The newly floated Kuki Peoples’ Alliance had recently released its election manifesto at its office in Churachandpur and declared the names of the two candidates who will fight for the assembly polls from Singngat and Saikul assembly constituencies in the forthcoming Manipur assembly polls.

Apart from Nemcha Kipgen and Janata Dal (United) candidate Soshim Gurung from 50-Kangpokpi AC, a retired IPS officer Ngamkhohen Kipgen, fielded by the Indian National Congress and an Independent candidate, Thangminlen Kipgen, former Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee also filed their nomination to contest the election from 50-Kangpokpi AC and with their nominations, four candidates including one woman candidate have filed nominations for 50-Kangpokpi AC till date.

In connection with 51-Saitu AC, apart from the Independent candidate and a veteran politician Haokholet Kipgen and NPP candidate K. Lhouvum, who had already filed their nomination, four more candidates including Dr. Lamtinthang Haokip, set up by the Indian National Congress, dual nominations from the BJP candidate Ngamthang Haokip and Janata Dal (United) candidate L Johnny Gangmei also filed their nominations on Monday.

So far, six candidates including the dual nominations of Ngamthang Haokip have filed nominations from 51-Saitu AC.

In 46-Saikul AC, apart from two Independent candidates, viz. veteran politician Chungkhokai Doungel, better known as C. Doungel and Kenn Raikhan, who had already filed nominations a few days before, as many as six individuals including two women have filed nominations today.

The six candidates who have filed their nomination today are Janata Dal (United) candidate Ch. Ajang Khongsai, KPA's candidate Kimneo Haokip, INC's candidate Lhingkim Haokip, NPP's candidate Seikholal Haokip, BJP's candidate Yamthong Haokip, and Republican Party of India (Athawale) candidate Jamchinlen Lunkim.

Altogether, eight candidates including two women have filed nominations for 46-Saikul AC till date.
