Three government school teachers in Manipur were suspended on Friday for allegedly not following the new school timing made effective from April 1 by the state government.
Two of the three teachers, namely primary teacher Yunus and graduate science teacher L Kanahai were posted at Maibam Pali Junior High School at Maibam Palli in Wabagai assembly constituency, Thoubal district while the other primary teacher Fakharuddin Ali Ahmad of Irong Primary Madrassa was utilised at the said school.
Director of Education (S), L Nandakumar issued separate suspension orders of the trio on Friday.
As told by the director, the teachers were suspended as disciplinary action against them for not following the new school timing.
The state government on March 26 notified that school hours will start at 8 am in all the government, aided and private schools with effect from April 1 across the state.
Nandakumar further said that the zonal education officer concerned was instructed to verify a video that went viral in social media platforms wherein the said school was not opened till around 10 am.
It was learnt that the school timing was delayed by around two hours and even students were seen entering the school complex by passing through the school fencing.
Subsequently, they were suspended in exercise of the power conferred by sub-rule (1) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal), 1965.
According to the suspension orders, the trio are to station in Imphal and should not leave the same without obtaining prior permission of the director.
