Three KKL members detained

The three members of Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) were detained on Sunday by the Imphal West police team for conducting a press conference on a matter that may escalate communal tension.

As many as three members of Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) were detained on Sunday by the Imphal West police team for conducting a press conference on a matter that may escalate communal tension between different communities in the state.

The KKL activists on Saturday conducted a press conference, during which they reportedly objected to the inclusion of Chin Kuki and Meitei Pangal as indigenous people by the government notification.

The detained KKL members are Longjam Munindro ,52, son of L Khelen Singh from Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, executive member Uritkhinbam Manadeva Singh ,40, son of U Mani Singh from Wangkhei Konsam Leikai; general secretary Sougrakpam Sushilkumar Singh, 45,  son of S Ibomcha Singh from Singjamei Sorokhaibam Leikai.

According to police, they were detained for the press conference that could escalate communal tension between different communities. They were later released after giving consultation, police stated.
