Three arrested for allegedly slaughtering cow over BJP candidates list

Three persons were booked under the Prevention of Cruelty To Animal Act 1960, and for creating enmity among different groups.

Three persons allegedly involved in the slaughtering of a cow, which video went viral in social media, were arrested by the Lilong police on Monday.

They are identified as Nazbul Hussain alias Mayai son of late Akbar of Lilong Tolen Khun, Abdur Rashid son of Md Abdur Rahim of Lilong Chaobok Ipham and Md Arif Khan son of Md Yakup Ali of Lilong Heinou Makhong.

They were booked under the Prevention of Cruelty To Animal Act 1960, and for creating enmity among different groups.

In the viral video circulated in social media on Sunday evening, a cow was seen slaughtering by some individuals over a BJP flag laid on the ground, as a mark of protest against the announcement of the BJP tickets for the Manipur Assembly polls.

In the video, the protesters were seen using derogatory language against Chief Minister N Biren, who is a member of the Manipur BJP Election Committee.
