Three Kukis, including one IRB rifleman, were apprehended while arms and ammunition were seized from their possession by the Mobile Vehicles Check Post of the 22 Assam Rifles located at Kangchup Chingkhong in Imphal West around 9.30 pm on Tuesday.
A total of five guns, five locally made hand grenades, and 1,090 bullets were seized from the possession of the three apprehended Kukis, as per sources.
The personnel of the Mobile Vehicles Check Post checked an Alto car and it was found carrying the three occupants which include the rifleman of the 10th IRB.
In further checking the vehicle, the said arms and ammunition were detected. During further questioning, it was revealed that they were transporting the said arms and ammunition from Churachandpur district to Leilon Vaiphei village which is located under Leimakhong Police Station, as per police.
They were planning to reach Leilon Vaiphei via Geljang above Singda. The three apprehended Kukis and the seized arms were handed over to Imphal Police Station, sources said.
