Thoubal: Youth found dead, JAC formed

A 19-year-old boy was found dead with injuries allegedly indicating foul play at Ngangou Loukol of Lilong Mayai Leikai under Lilong police station in Thoubal district on Saturday.

According to police, the victim has been identified as one Md Mujibur Rahman, 19, son of Md Shahbuddin from Lilong Turel Ahanbi Ngangou Palli Lambi. “There were scars on his head which are suspected to be caused by violent blows by sharp objects,” it added. After the police registered a case regarding the incident, the body was handed over to JNIMS for post-mortem examination, it mentioned.

Meanwhile, locals of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Khongnang Makhong Makha demonstrated a sit-in protest condemning the incident and formed a JAC. 

“All signs and evidence indicate that Mujibur was murdered,” said the grandfather of Md Mujibur Rahman, Roushan Ali at the protest. He appealed for the diligent efforts of the police to punish the culprits and bring justice to the incident.

Convenor of the JAC Kh Ziaur Rahaman urged the police to identify and punish the culprit within 48 hours. He cautioned that the JAC along with CSOs will commence strong protests if the culprits are not punished within 48 hours.
