The Thoubal district Congress committee on Thursday staged a sit-in protest at DCC Thoubal office in Thoubal Athokpam condemning the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and disqualifying him from his MP post.
Congress workers from the six assembly constituencies of Thoubal district took part in the protest held under the theme “Jai Bharat Satyagraha Sabha”.
Taking part in the protest, district Congress committee president Nongmaithem Lukhoi condemned the BJP government, stating that democracy of the country might be in danger with their dictatorship ruling. The protest was held to save the democracy of the country from the BJP-led government, he added.
He condemned Rahul Gandhi’s conviction by the court for speaking against a surname and said that it is a threat to the Indian democracy.
Lukhoi also said that the Congress party will always stand for the truth and welfare of the country unlike the current BJP-led government.
