Tengnoupal: One killed, 20 injured in clash over land dispute between two villages

The clash broke out between villagers of Aimol Khunyai and Aimol Chingnunghut under Machi Police Station in Tengnoupal district of Manipur.

At least one person died and more than 20 persons sustained injury in a land dispute-related clash that broke out between villagers of Aimol Khunyai and Aimol Chingnunghut under Machi Police Station in Tengnoupal district of Manipur on Saturday at around 4:45 pm.

Reportedly, over 10 persons each belonging to the two villages were injured in the incident. Following the incident, deputy commissioner of Tengnoupal district has imposed Section 144 of CrPC in the area to prevent any untoward incident further.

The deceased has been identified as Thangjalal, son of Waneilal, who was a pastor of Chingnunghut.

Sources said that Thangjalal died at the Jiban Hospital, Kakching and the doctors in the hospital informed that the reason of his death is yet to be ascertained.

The foundation stone laying ceremony to be attended by Tengnoupal DC on September 25 at the ground located in between Aimol Khunyai and Aimol Chingnunghut was cancelled following the land dispute issue among the two villages.
