Representatives of the Tousem Area Students' Organization (TASO) headed by its general secretary T R Philemon and Loveson Kamei, information secretary of the Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur called on the Inspector General of Police, Manipur, to address the urgent need for a dedicated police station building at Tousem in Tamenglong district.
A press release by the Information & Publicity department, TASO on Friday informed that a memorandum, previously submitted to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, was presented, highlighting the critical role of the Tousem Police Station, which has served 64 villages since 1980, in maintaining regional law and order.
Currently operating from rented houses in New Kaiphundai and Phaitol village, the lack of proper infrastructure leaves Tousem vulnerable to threats, undermining security and development efforts, TASO stated. The community has allocated land for the police station construction, stressing its importance due to the area's strategic location along the Assam and Nagaland borders, it stated.
The Inspector General of Police acknowledged the concerns and assured the delegation of prompt action, TASO stated.
