A task force has been formed to monitor unwanted activities within the Meitei Pangal community and take punitive active action.

This was informed by All Manipur Muslim Organisations’ Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) president SM Jalal during a public discourse on the present turmoil in Manipur with the participation of different localities of the Meitei Pangal community at Khomidok Bazar Community Hall in Imphal East on Saturday.

The meeting resolved to stand together for the integrity of Manipur. Speaking to the media, SM Jalal said that the public discourse deliberated on the silence of the government towards the ongoing violence in Manipur for over 100 days.

He said that there are various complaints of making statements or doing activities that have the potential to build up sentiment between communities.

Amid turmoil, AMMOCOC had circulated Dos and Don’ts to many places within the Pangal community to prevent unwanted incidents, he said.

However, many complaints are still being raised about doing activities that may hurt the sentiment of other communities, he mentioned. To monitor these, a task force has been set up within the Meitei-Pangal community with representatives from different CSOs and local clubs, Jalal informed.

“If anyone crosses the limit and hurts the sentiment of any community, then the task force will take up punitive measures,” he said.

Expressing strong condemnation over the Central leaders; speech concerning Manipur, Jalal said their speech before Parliament shows that they are not much interested with the turmoil in Manipur. They have not expressed about taking any concrete steps to bring a solution to the crisis, he added.

He further questioned if the Union Government has a hidden agenda towards the issue in Manipur.

AMUCOC will not accept any decision against the integrity of Manipur at any cost, he said.

The Meitei Pangal community is ready for strong decisions and will stand together for protection of Manipur integrity, he added.
