Returning officer and deputy commissioner of Tamenglong Hungyo Worshang on Saturday urged all citizens of Tamenglong to come out and vote peacefully in a free and fair manner in the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Like the previous election during which Tamenglong district did not conduct a re-poll, the 12th general state assembly election should be conducted peacefully, he said, while urging all not to spread false information.
The DC was speaking to the media at his official residence on Saturday evening.
He also informed that Tamenglong district has three assembly constituencies, namely Tamei, Tamenglong and Nungba and 2011 polling stations, including two auxiliary polling stations, are prepared for the ensuing election. He said there are 93 polling stations in Tamei assembly constituency,64 in Tamenglong Assembly constituency and 52 in Nungba assembly constituency.
He further informed that as many as eight nomination papers have been collected from Tamei AC and Tamenglong AC. As for Nungba assembly constituency, candidates are not finalised yet, he added.
He said that nominations can be filed on any working day from 11 am to 3pm till February 11. The scrutiny is fixed on February 14 while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 16, he said.
Returning officer Worshang further informed that as many as 33 women polling stations have been prepared. Three polling stations with all women, including security have been planned, he added.
