The people of Thoubal and Kakching staged a mass silent sit-in-protest along Imphal-Moreh NH 102 at Thoubal and Kakching district area on Thursday by blocking roads from 10 am till 1 pm.
The protest, organised by the Thoubal and Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL), demanded the government to bring a solution to the prevailing clash, demanding for the Prime Minister to speak on the current unrest in Manipur in the ongoing Parliament session and withdrawal of SoO.
TAKDAL strongly condemned the central and state government for not saving the people from narco-terrorists, alleging that they caused the ethnic clash which broke out in the state on May 3 which has claimed hundreds of lives, houses burnt, thousands of people displaced and students being deprived of education.
The protesters also condemned the government for not taking heed to the demands made by TAKDAL on July 26, i.e., to call a special assembly session within the first week of August and take a decision to conclude the clash and to table the decision in the ongoing parliament session.
Public movement was halted during the protest except for medical emergencies, religious activities and media persons.
