In yet another attack on the residence of Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, RK Ranjan Singh, a strong mob stormed the house located at Kongba Nandeibam Leikai under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district and set fire to it late Thursday.
Security personnel, who are posted at the residence of RK Ranjan, told mediapersons that a huge mob stormed the residential building around 11 pm Thursday.
During the time of the incidence, 24 security personnel, including additional security forces, tried to control the mob. The strong mob, however, overpowered them and set fire to the house.
The security personnel said the mob also snatched some bullet proof vest issued to the security personnel.

During the incident, at least three four-wheeler vehicles, security barracks, and most of the belongings were set on fire by the mob. However, the extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained and no casualty was reported in the attack.
This is the second attack on the house of RK Ranjan recently. The house was first attacked on May 25, wherein a mob tried to vandalised the house.
After the earlier attack on the house of the minister, all the family members, including RK Ranjan, reportedly left Manipur.
As violence continued in Manipur, the official residence of minister Nemcha Kipgen in Lamphel, Imphal West, was also set ablaze on Wednesday evening by unidentified miscreants despite the presence of security personnel, according to sources.
