All Manipur United Clubs Association (AMUCO) president Ph Nando has cautioned all concerned to stop politicising the mass burial and trying to build a distorted narrative over the deceased.

He was speaking at the 26th Integrity Day observation organised by AMUCO at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai Community Hall on Friday.

He further highlighted that around 20 Meitei individuals were still missing without any information of their whereabouts.

“Kuki miscreants with vested interests should stop building issues around the deceased. We pay homage to all those who passed away in the crisis but no one will be allowed to take the bodies forcefully by sending in security forces,” he said.

“The Kuki bodies at the morgue can be taken out only when the bodies of all Meiteis who went missing during the crisis were brought out; we know several individuals went missing in Kuki-dominated areas and their bodies are yet to be recovered,” he said.

Nando exhorted people to take the same lead in defending the periphery village just as they take in public rallies in Imphal.

“The battle is raging on and the number of people in periphery villages is small; people need to take a more proactive role and aid in defending the villages,” he said.

He also stated that striving collectively would happen only when the objectives were aligned. The unity will come naturally but to unite in unnecessary matters would only divert the people from achieving the ultimate objective, he added.

He further said that Kuki miscreants preventing state forces from entering Kuki inhabited areas in Manipur were a direct threat to all communities living in Manipur. Such a move will not only affect the Meiteis but all the people living in Manipur, he added.

President of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur Longjam Memchoubi, president of All Manipur Meitei Pangal Club’s Organisation FM Mamawar, former MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC RK Anand among others were present at the observation.
